Palmyra, NY

Monday we went to Palmyra, NY. For those who don't know, Palmyra has a lot of history for the church I go to. So it was really neat to see it all in person. Here we are at the Grandin Press. This is the place where the first Book of Mormon's were printed. The tour guide really took an intrest in Kathleen. Kathleen LOVED it.

Then we went and had a picnic on the Hill Cummorah. The kids loved it. They could run around as much as they pleased. Ryan, Kathleen and Brandon are sitting on a statue of the Angel Moroni.

Kathleen thought it was really fun to roll down the hill. Brandon tried, but got nervous. The hill was really steep.

Ryan had a lot of memories from when he came as a youth and was in the pagent they hold each year. Here is one of the places the cast spent much of their time, including meal times.

Cody had a long week and finally totally crashed as we walked around.

After that we went to see the Smith Farm, where Joseph Smith grew up.

This is a house his family moved into later as they outgrew their other home. It is only about 100 yards away from the first home.

Then we walked through the Sacred Grove, which is where Joseph Smith received his first vision after praying to know which church was true. Here he saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. It was only about a 2 minute walk from the Smith Farm. It was BEAUTIFUL.

Then we went to the Whitmer farm, which was where the first meeting for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was held. It is also where Joseph Smith finished translating the Book of Mormon.

Karen (Ryan's mom), or Grammy, as it were, is standing in front of a picture of the gospel at the time of Jesus.

Oh it looks like you had so much fun! I have always wanted to do a Church History tour out east. Also, I didn't realize Karen went to NY too! That must have been a BLAST!
